Matthew 18:20 “…for where two or three gathered in my name, there am I with them”.

I praise the Lord for leading me to our small group led by Ivan Lim. In our times of need, when my wife Soo was going through her long battle with cancer, we had the constant support from our small group whether through prayer, hospital and home visitations, constant phone calls, or just at being there for us. They have provided the much needed encouragement, as well as physical, emotional, and spiritual support in our most trying periods of need.

At other times, there were opportunities for meaningful Christian fellowship not only at our group meetings but also when we served as a group in, for example, the ‘Adopt-A-Block’ initiative. Our small group is in always our special family where the presence of our Lord is felt through the love that radiates from our brothers and sisters in Christ. Indeed, a PCM group is a fulfillment of the Lord’s promise found in Matthew 18:20!

I decided to join a small group after the 40 Days of Purpose campaign. God is good – He directed me to Cell Vision 1 group.

One of my first ministries with Cell Vision 1 was to participate in the block adoption visits at Block 42, Tanglin Halt. I learnt to reach out to residents in the block with care and love gifts during the visits. There are now residents who are familiar with us and are happy when we visit.

Personally, Cell Vision 1 has been an encouragement to me. They have helped me to grow spiritually with regular Bible studies and worship. I also enjoy the fellowship time we share. They have been very loving and caring to each other and to me. When I faced issues with my family, job loss, health and other problems, they were always there to support and pray for me. In 2007, my father passed away. I was very touched that my group was there to support and care for me during that difficult period.

I am happy to say that till today, I am still a committed member of this small group. I would encourage everyone to join a group! I can testify that one can truly grow in our Christian walk with God as we do so.

Jeffrey Chan, Oikodome small group

I have been truly blessed to be part of the Oikodome family. This is where I have gradually grown and matured as a person of faith.

The group provided me with pastoral care as well as support, enabling me to experience the love, joy and companionship of Christ with the family of God. I’ve learned and benefitted greatly from the members’ personal testimonies and spiritual experiences. Each of our life experiences may differ but the members' authentic sharing of life struggles and faith journeys has spurred me to find courage to confess my failings and spiritual needs. Given the different personalities in the group, I have learnt how to establish mutual trust and listen to one another's needs.  The various healthy activities beyond the regular meeting further helped to strengthen our bonding.

I would like to attest to the powerful prayer support from my group members without which I would be totally lost in the midst of my trials.  When going through difficult times, knowing that I have the support and care of these brothers and sisters in Christ indeed lightened my burden.

Ever since I was encouraged to take the step of faith to be an apprentice leader, I have been blessed with many more learning opportunities and spiritual training to lead a prayerful life. There is no doubt that being in a small group has helped me to find the true meaning of Christian living.

Rachelle Tan, Blessed Assurance small group

My husband Malcolm was diagnosed with brain cancer in 2007. My neighbour Christina invited my family to worship in Faith Methodist Church in 2009 and from then on, we attended the Praise@AC Service every Sunday, and my son has also settled down at The TackleBox youth Service. We felt the presence of the Lord in church every Sunday.

When the group “Blessed Assurance” was formed, our neighbour invited us to join. We met regularly for worship, Bible studies, sharing and praying for one another. We, especially Malcolm, were ministered by a group of caring and loving members. We were very happy and blessed to be in a small group. The members continued to pray for one another even in times when we didn't meet; we emailed and sent messages to encourage one another. Whenever we needed a listening ear, we felt at ease to share and ask for prayer.

When Malcolm passed away in July 2010, the entire small group was there to support us and this brought great comfort to my family and me. I am very thankful that God brought me to join this group for my family and I truly experienced God's love through His people.
